Huggi Dungeon part 1

So this was my first real vrchat experience, albeit played on my home cinema, and not in VR.
I will keep any actual map spoilers out if it, which sadly means this review will be short.

Intro

When i entered the Huggi Dungeon part 1 lobby, i was like "hmm.. this actually looks quite nice and all"

Then i went down the stairs to be welcomes at the huggi dungeon bar. (Yes without reading the big wall of disclaimer text).

Seeing the sign "Survivors" made me go like "huh?", then i went upstairs again to the main lobby and actually read what the text said.

My response was like "uhh.. i like the lobby with the bunny called Huggi in there. but I'm not sure if i will like it?" as i never liked thriller+ related things.

Investigation

I took a look on some youtube videos, purely too see what kind of play length it has (so i wouldnt spoil myself).
With that i concluded one can take upto 2 hours for a first time experience, which makes it on the longer side due to my usually short attention span (i assumed it was one game).

Gameplay

With still unsure on the fact if my attention span was enough, i went in with some others (which i found through the creator's patreon discord server linked below)
And was pretty surprised on how it was set up: it's essentially multiple mini dungeon games, combined with puzzle aspects.
Which got me to think to solve and sometimes getting scared while doing so, which was a nice touch.

I did come across some minor issues, like a texture glitch at some areas (only in lobby though), but luckily it didn't diturb the gameplay feel that much here.

Story

I didn't focus on the story much yet, but i know from what i got out of it, it's a pretty dark and sad one.
So i will keep it at this for now.

There are some easter eggs in the game, which would make it worth to me redoing the game a few times. (So it's not simply: a single experience is all you get)

Community

What surprised me the most is the very supportive community thriving the series.
Once i joined the patreon discord i soon joined the Huggi Dungeon Discord. (it contains spoilers though, so be warned!)
And oh boy, the amount of support, welcoming and openness from there (including the creator!) made it feel like home pretty fast.

Bottomline

So yes, if you are ok with darker themes and like adventure in VRchat (even for playing on desktop), and are ok with the disclaimer in the dungeon's lobby, it's a well worth experience to me.
I imagine playing in VR makes it even more involved, but even for a desktop playthrough it's already very awesome.
